The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken decisive action, shutting down several establishments for breaching environmental laws. Churches, hotels, bars, and other businesses across Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo were sealed as part of an ongoing drive to combat noise pollution and other violations.
In a statement released on Thursday, LASEPA announced the closure of facilities that ignored prior warnings to comply with environmental standards. Among the establishments sealed were Daily Bakery, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, and Festival Hotel Conference Centre & SPA. Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, spoke of the agency’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding public health.
“Noise pollution and improper siting of hazardous facilities harm our communities. We have zero tolerance for violations that disrupt public harmony and threaten lives,” he said.Ajayi stressed the importance of collective responsibility, urging Lagosians to report environmental violations through official channels.
He also called on businesses to adhere to environmental laws and adopt sustainable practices.“This is a fight for a healthier Lagos,” Ajayi stated. “Every action counts in preserving the quality of life for our people.”With this enforcement, LASEPA sends a clear message: protecting the environment is not just a duty but a necessity.
