A man of action in a country where leadership cowers behind podiums and armored convoys.
On Easter Sunday, when most were sharing meals and prayers, Ehigie was out in the forests of Edo, working with his hands. A wood saw operator. A hunter.
A man who knew that survival in this country is not promised by any government policy, but by grit and instinct.
And when he stumbled upon kidnappers holding innocent people hostage, he did not phone a senator.
He did not wait for a slow police response or pray for miracle drones.
No, he acted.
With a warning shot, he disrupted the plans of evil men. He rescued eight souls. He led them through forest paths carved by memory and sweat.
But the kidnappers returned. And where bullets failed, wood and rage succeeded.
They beat him down. He died in that forest. Alone, unarmed, and unprotected by the very country he died defending.
And what has the Federal Government said? Nothing.
Where is the outrage from Abuja? Where are the promises to cleanse our forests of terror?
Where are the military units, the tactical squads, the fly-by-night security press briefings?
They have gone silent again. Just as they did after the Abuja-Kaduna train massacre. After the Kuje jailbreak.
After the Zamfara school abductions. After every act of national failure.
Ehigie died a man. The government that should have stood before him as shield and law did not show up. Again.
After his death, the kidnappers blocked the Ugbenin/Udo road and attacked others. Two more people now cling to life. And the Federal Government keeps counting bodies instead of deploying solutions.
How many brave men must die before Nigeria gets leadership with a spine?
When do we stop being a country of candlelight vigils and start being a nation of consequences?
Ehigie stood when others ran. He gave everything. The FG gives us nothing but excuses, silence, and the endless sound of soil being shoveled over another patriot's grave.
This isn’t governance. This is abandonment.
Are Nigerian lives of any importance to the FG? Or are we merely statistics in their quiet war against accountability?
