The Misguided Coronation of Political Convenience: A Blunt Call to Reject Ethnic Manipulation Masquerading as Unity

Enworo   Daniel   July 30, 2025, 2:06 am

Issued: July 29, 2025 By: Edo Core Perspective Channel (ECP) 4min Read There comes a time when a nation must look its children in the eye and say, "Enough of the lies, enough of the deceit, enough of the cowardice parading as leadership." That tim... Continue reading >>>

Let us call this what it is: a desperate ploy to secure the 2027 presidential elections through backdoor endorsements and ethnic appeasement. It is a calculated insult to the intelligence of over 200+ million Nigerians. It is not just an affront to the Hausa nation, but to all ethnic nationalities who refuse to be used as tokens on a political board. + A Nation Is Not a Puppet Show You cannot drape a royal robe over your selfish ambition and expect us to call it national unity. You cannot use the sacred stools of traditional institutions to buy loyalty and trade influence like merchants in a corrupt bazaar. That era is over. To elevate two monarchs, no matter how esteemed, above all others, and institutionalize them as national figureheads, is a mockery of Nigeria’s ethnic complexity. Nigeria is no two-tribe coalition. We are a federation of civilizations, each with blood-stained crowns, warrior ancestry, and centuries of sovereign identity. *What of the Oba of Benin, whose dynasty dates unbroken for over 800 years?* *What of the Shehu of Borno, one of the oldest Islamic traditional institutions on the African continent?* *What of the Obi of Onitsha, the Eze Nri, the Tor Tiv, the Olu of Warri, the Attah of Igala, the Emir of Kano?* Are these institutions now to be ranked beneath the Sultan and the Ooni to satisfy the political lust of a few puppeteers in Abuja? Let it be known clearly For one, the Ooni of Ife is not a traditional ruler and never was. He is but a Chief priest, and nothing more. He has never occupied a Traditional role in his life. Secondly, the Sultan of Sokoto is not a traditional ruler but a Religious leader. A Fulani, Islamic cleric, who is not even Hausa. These are facts, not riddles or long stories. So it is preposterous and indeed a slap on the faces of all Nigerians to make non traditional rulers, heads of traditional rulers in Nigeria. It shows you how these politicians view Nigerians. + A Rotten Bargain for Power This bill is not rooted in justice. It is rooted in immorality, manipulation, and self-aggrandizement. It is the brainchild of men who mistake Nigeria for their personal fiefdoms. They wish to weaponize culture to purchase obedience, disguise their incompetence, and launder their broken promises through thrones they think they can bend. But Nigerians are not fools. We have buried our children under the flag of broken leadership. We have sold our future too many times in the name of false unity. We have watched our elders become beggars, our youths become exiles, and our children become orphans of a nation that eats its own. Let it be known: no monarch, no senator, no general, and no godfather will tell the people how to vote in 2027. + A Warning and a Call to Arms To those behind this treacherous bill: You will not succeed. You may buy newspapers. You may rent crowds. You may even bend institutions for a time. But the Nigerian people have woken up. They will vote their conscience. They will reject puppetry. They will choose leadership, not loyalty oaths to ancestral chairs handpicked for political theater. We call on all Nigerians, North and South, East and West, to reject this madness. Speak out. Organize. Resist. Do not let these desperate politicians rewrite our history to suit their future. Do not allow unity to become a euphemism for ethnic supremacy. Do not allow your conscience to be traded like cattle at election markets.
